BLANCHARD OIL LAMP

Overview

The top consists of a brass reservoir which holds the oil. It has a shield plaque on the front with the makers details and a circular glass window below with a dial to show whether it is full or empty.

It has a domed lid with a central hanger and a screw in cap for fuel. At the base are two pipes protruding from either side which would attach to the light fitting.

Historical information

This oil lamp, made by Blanchard's in the United Kingdowm was originally used in the Kelmscott Hall. It was salvaged when the hall was rebuilt in the early 1930s.
