HAND SAW

Overview

Steel blade widest at the handle end tapering to a narrow flat point at the tip. Fine teeth are in a damaged state.
Has a wooden handle fixed by five bolts and a manufacturers emblem on one side. The name A K DUNCAN is stamped on the handle in four different places.

Historical information

Tools used by Charles Duncan in his Blacksmith and Wheelright shop. The shop was called Duncan & McNamee and was located on the corner of Jull Street and Third Road. It was open from 1926-1938.

Disston is a Canadian saw company founded in 1840 by Henry Disston. It has been known as Disston Saw Works, Keystone Saw works and Henry Disston & Sons Inc. The successor company Disston Precision is still operational.
