Statement of significance

MEDIUM
John Christmass of Kelmscott was a highly influential figure in the Western Australian classical and choral music scene. He was a senior education officer in the Department of Education's music branch where he promoted music in the WA school system and organised school music festivals. In 1983 John Christmass was awarded Western Australia's Citizen of the Year award for his service to music. In 2005 he was awarded a Australian Senior of the Year award for his services to the arts.
