Royal Air Force silver tone sweetheart brooch in form of wreath suspended from plane
c. 1939World War Two era Royal Air Force silver tone sweetheart brooch in the form of a wreath suspended from a plane.
It features a military aircraft (possibly a bomber) pinned at the top, which suspends a decorative RAF laurel wreath medallion via small chain loops and a central drop link.
The letters of the RAF have been painted or filled with enamel, but much of this has worn away with time. The King's Crown which surmounts the wreath also has red paint or enamel detailing.
The reverse is plain.
This sweetheart brooch is one of many produced and sold to servicemen to give to their loved ones during wartime.
