Overview

A circular badge. It has a green serpent, with a fishlike head swimming across a blue Minnawarra Lake, with the church and school from the historic precinct, in the background. Text around the upper edge reads:( ARMADALE HIGHLAND GATHERING 2002). It has a white card backing, with an outline of Australia in the centre, and BADGE-A-MINIT, in text underneath. There is a silver pin for mounting.

Historical information

The Highland Gathering was first held in Minnawarra Park in 1993. in the 2000s an inflatable Loch Ness Monster was set up in the lake. The COA Library services held a badge making activity as part of the festival in 2002.

Badge issued as a commemorative keepsake from the highland gathering. Armadale Library had a badge making activity. The badge represents the importance of community events to both the COA and its local community.
The badge represents the role local government has played in the City of Armadale in being the organising body behind key cultural events. The Highland Gathering has been a popular community event held at in the Minnawarra Park with a Scottish Heritage theme since 1993.
