Overview

A pleated tartan kilt, the main colour is red with a black check having a yellow line running through the centre. The total width is 1800mm with a 100mm waistband. On the end of the inside band is a strap which passes through a slit to a buckle about 600mm from the other end of the band, which also has a strap to a buckle and a second strap affixed to Velcro. On the back waistband are three large belt loops.

Historical information

The kilt run is an annual run to try and beat the world record for persons competing at the same time. It is run by the City of Armadale in conjunction with Perth in Canada and Perth in Scotland.The world record is held by Perth in Canada.

Statement of significance

This kilt is an example of kilts that were worn during the communal run that took place during the Highland Games. Attendees would bring their own or purchase one during the event to wear during the run.
