GENERAL EMBROIDERY, SAMPLER

Overview

This embroidered sampler was stitched by a relative on the donor whilst the family were travelling on the ship ‘Planet’ from the United Kingdom to Victoria, Australia. in 1857.
The alphabet, in pink, maroon and purple Berlin wool is worked in cross stitch on linen fabric. The letter ‘U’ is missing. It has the maker’s name embroidered “E. TRICKETT Aged 7 years”. The ‘E’ is for Ellen.
