TATTING, TEA COSY

Overview

Before the advent of tea bags, tea cosies, keeping the tea pot hot, were an important accessory in the ritual of serving afternoon tea in England and the British Empire. These were usually hand stitched, showcasing the skills of the lady of the house.

The front of this white linen tea cosy has a hand tatted inserts and a delicate tatted lace edging.
