WRAPPING, SAMPLER
In 1997, Sian Martin, a UK tutor from Somerset, was invited to WA to run a workshop on demonstrating alternate ways of construction and different ways of presenting work.
Students in the workshop used strips of dyed silk fabric to wrap around wooden pop sticks. These were attached to a dyed silk background. The gold cross stitch held the pieces in place to give the sticks a common wrap bringing the whole together.
Other pieces of Sian’s are 1999.13, 199.14 and 1999.15.
