PHOTOGRAPH: THE REGAL THEATRE
The image shows the Regal Theatre, erected in 1937, on the Coliseum corner (Rokeby Road and Hay Street). The theatre is a fine example of the Art Déco architectural period. There is a circular wraparound verandah with the words 'Regal Theatre' painted on the front. A neon sign with the word 'Regal' is erected on the front of the building above the verandah. Regal Open Air Garden on the other side of Rokeby Road. There is a line of parked cars next to the theatre in Rokeby Road and a zebra crossing over Hay Street in the foreground.
