NEWCASTLE GAOL MUSEUM; ENTRANCE
c. 1961Black and white photo of front entrance to Old Gaol Museum Toodyay looking through to the courtyard.
Door has wooden door jam with brick surround. Window above has a brick arch.
Walls are made of local stone.
Part of stonework is painted white. Roof of cells partly re-shingled.
Pathway flags may have been just laid, they have wood edging.
Weeds on left side of door.
It is likely, however, that this photo actually dates from 1961 when the roof was being re-shingled, as part of the restoration of the building to re-open as a museum in 1962.
The shingling seems to be at the same stage of completion as image 2001.1198 in the Shire of Toodyay collection, which is an exterior view of the entire gaol. This image is also dated ca1961.
