Showing the ruins of the Newcastle Gaol before it was restored as a museum in 1962.
Photo taken from Clinton Street viewing the southern aspect of the building. Yard wall has partially collapsed. A boy is climbing up the rubble, his outstretched arms reaching the top of the wall.
The shingles have fallen off the front and parts of the rear sections of the building.
One chimney visible.
Photo taken in cooler months as green grass is evident in the cleared paddocks next to and behind gaol.
Bob Jones is identified as the climber.
