Sterling silver pendant or fob named to Lieutenant T. Walker, 1915
1914Sterling silver pendant or fob in the shape of a flaming grenade named to Lieutenant T. Walker, who served with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in 1915.
There are 7 flames extending from the hemispherical grenade. A loop in silver isattached to the top for hanging.
The flat reverse surface is engraved with 'LIEUT. T WALKER' in the upper flame region, and 'OXFORD & BUCKS LT INFTY' around the circumeference of the circular grenade. The Roman numberal 'IX' is engraved in the centre.
It is a well made piece with neat engraving, likely to have been produced by a jeweller. The word 'STERLING' is impressed on the reverse.
The identity of Lieutenant T. Walker of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry is unknown. It is likely that he had the pendant or fob made to be worn by a loved one as jewellery, or by himself as a fob which also identified him.
