PHOTOGRAPH: ADVERTISEMENT FOR METTERS' GRATES AND HOODS
Black and white photographs: (a) Photograph of Metters' grate and hood. The former is very plain, while the hood has a textured appearance and an abstract design. The fireplace has a plain fender and very plain side pillars and mantel with a rectangular mirror that has its outlines drawn in ink and white paint. The hearth tiles feature a simple motif of two entwined daisies. (b) Features same grate manufactured by Metters set in the same tiled fireplace with the floral motif as (a). However, the hood is different. The metal is again textured (hammered?) but the design comprises three thistles.
Reverse: The word 'Jarrah' is written in pencil on the reverse, possibly a reference to the wooden mantel. These photographs were used to advertise the products in leaflets, newspapers and magazines.
