W.A. Embroiderers’ Guild member, Elvie Rowe, who in 1997 was awarded a Commendation Award
for her services to the Guild.
Freehand contemporary embroidery of a Western Australian marsupial, a numbat in the countryside by a tree. Wool and cotton stitching on plain woven fabric, with net applique and small details using beads.
The subject matter, framing, materials and colours used for her solo exhibition are typical of embroidered pieces in the 1980s and 1990s.
