GENERAL EMBROIDERY, PICTURE

1992
Overview

A good example of Stirling Stitchery, a technique devised and introduced in WA by Guild’s founder, Rusty Walkley, in 1992. This was to be part of the Guild’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in 1994, a technique unique to WA.
This design of Judy’s is an appliqued pink flower and a leaf, each outlined in Stirling Stitchery, (parallel rows of any selected stitch) in this case coral stitch or Palestrina for the leaf and back stitch or Vandyke stitch for the flower. The petals of the flower have been padded, trapunto technique. Centre of flower in pistol stitch and French knots. Centre of leaf in stem stitch and straight stitch.
