DARNING, KOGIN, SAMPLER
c. 1990 - 1999A Japanese darning technique which was popularised in WA by Sue Leighton-White who regularly travelled to Japan where she taught knitting. She brought back antique fabrics, threads and designs and taught in WA, Kogin darning using traditional patterns.
This mat/sampler stitched on evenweave cotton, Congress Cloth, using a navy blue Japanese cotton thread.
The reversible geometric square design is most attractive.
The item was designed to be made into a pocket tissue holder.
