Kalgoorlie Baseball Club junior cap c.1960
c. 1960A dark blue, woollen baseball cap with the letter 'K' embroidered in white thread on the front of the crown. The top button is covered in the same blue fabric. Inside, the cap is lined with black cotton fabric and has a name tag attached.
Baseball in the Goldfields in Western Australia started in the 1930s and went through periods of decline and revival over many decades.
This cap, with 'K' for Kalgoorlie Baseball Club embroidered on the crown, was worn by junior team member David Fraser from the late 1950s. David, aged 11, and his older brother Wallace are shown in the accompanying photo of the junior team, c.1960. Their mother Doreen, who was the club scorer, is seen in the second photograph. The ballboy/mascot in both photographs is their cousin Alan Mason.

This baseball cap is a rare and historic item of baseball memorabilia from the Goldfields region in Western Australia. The item's provenance comes from its donor, who was a member of the 'Kalgoorlie Baseball Club' junior team in the 1950s and 1960s.
