Harry Duncan Shield - West Australian Baseball League
This is a wooden shield mounted on a wooden base with a silver metal scroll at the top. The scroll is engraved with the name of the baseball league. In the centre of the wooden shield is a silver metal shield engraved with the name of the trophy and the Grade/Division it was awarded to. Seventeen smaller metal shields are mounted around the central shield and are engraved with the names of the winning clubs, from 1983 to 1998/99. Between the top scroll and the central shield is an oval-shaped metal plaque engraved with the year a change was made to the Grade/Division that was awarded the trophy.
A manufacturer's label is attached under the trophy's base.
From 1983 to 1992 this Harry Duncan Shield was awarded to the West Australian Baseball League's Minor 'A' Grade Division 1 Premiers. From season 1992/93 it was changed to A.A. Division 2 Premiers and awarded until season 1998/99.
With the amalgamation of the West Australian Baseball League Inc. (WABL) and the Baseball Development Foundation Inc. (BDF) on 5 May 1999, Baseball WA Ltd (BWA) was formed. Because of the changes to the League, this shield was replaced with another trophy bearing Baseball WA's name.

The perpetual shield identifies the WABL clubs that won this trophy up until the League's change of name.
This item had been in the possession of Baseball WA and was passed to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives.
This trophy commemorates a history and naming of teams that achieved a level of excellence in baseball in Western Australia. Of social significance, it also preserves and exhibits Western Australian baseball history and heritage. It is in good condition and is well-provenanced.
