Overview

A colour photograph, c.1960, of the Kalgoorlie Baseball Club's junior team. The team is wearing their playing uniforms of white pants with a mid-blue, vertical stripe on the outside legs. The playing top is white with mid-blue trim to the edge of the short sleeves and around the neckline. A large mid-blue shield on the front of the playing top has a white letter 'K' in the centre. Some of the players are wearing white undershirts. Socks are blue and white horizontal stripes. The player on the far left is wearing the dark-blue team cap which has the white letter 'K' on the front of the crown. The ballboy/mascot in the front of the group is also wearing the team cap and a mid-blue warm-up jacket.

Historical information

Junior baseball was re-introduced to the Goldfields Baseball League around 1956-57. This image is of a c.1960 Kalgoorlie Baseball Club junior team.

A copy of the photograph was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Kalgoorlie Baseball Club junior team member David Fraser. The photo includes brothers David (aged 11) and Wallace Fraser, and their cousin Alan Mason (team mascot/ballboy).

Baseball in the Goldfields went into decline in the late 1960s, however in 1978 there was a revival of the sport, and David went on to play senior baseball in the Goldfields Baseball League.
