Historical information

All taken by Roy Grace when a student at Claremont Teachers College, one of the photographers for 'The WA Trainee'. Roy Grace became a science master in the secondary service. His last position was Deputy Principal of Churchlands. The Claremont Teachers College building, of Cottesloe Limestone, was completed in 1901. In 1902, first students and staff, thirty nine in all, were enrolled. The building, on 12 acres bounded by Goldsworthy, Princess, Agett & Bay Roads, Claremont, overlooked Freshwater Bay. The kookaburra, swan and zanthorrea were incorporated in the original design for CTC crest. The College was established to train teachers in WA, previously done in South Australia.
