Historical information

Claremont State School was established in 1893 on a site near to Bay View Terrace, Claremont.

Between 1896 and 1901 the school was expanded, and its orientation changed to the face Bay View Terrace.

The school was renamed various times, including Claremont Central School, Claremont Demonstration School and Claremont Primary.

In 2011 the school amalgamated with East Claremont Primary School to become the Freshwater Bay Primary School. The name honours a school from the 1860s that operated from a building that became an integral part of the Claremont Museum.
