Historical information

The 1994 Prefect Camp was a huge success, and equally as fun. Our escort, Mr Rudrum, soon became known to us as "Pops".

With our year as prefects just beginning, we boarded the "Muppet bus" with great enthusiasm - considering a bike would have been more comfortable!

We ventured far, our first stop being Centrepoint where we decided to enter the camp with a "tough, don't mess with me" school image.

Our scare tactics were in the form of dinosaur tattoos, and believe me, they did their job! Our fellow prefects kept within a 15 metre radius of us for the entire camp. I'm not sure if this was the tattoos or Joel's antics.

Our first task was to work as a group and solve a number of problems in the form of physical activity. Apart from Stuart breaking his back lifting practically every prefect in , around and through the obstacles, we also learnt we'd better smarten up our act or our school's future was looking pretty grim.

Warwick " big man " Parks was determined to get his money's- worth and within two and a half days had part ownership of Point Peron Camp School, consuming intolerable amounts of food............................................... and... Stuart "B, B2, wheat, com, oats, niacin" Cross swam to Perth and back before anyone else had ventured into the water.

And if you think bedtime meant sleeping, think again. It was impossible to shut an eyelid with 24 people in one room. So Teneille " midnight mission" Lloyd decided a snack was in order. How does a dozen cakes sound? Tenielle took quite a risk considering our chef was 6ft tall, 7ft wide and the proud owner of a black belt!

Our night time activity had a country and western theme. "Pops" led the way showing us all how to... do an "alimental left to the comer, swing your partner round and round, do si do and promenade till you get back home."

To get the next day off to a good start, Joel did B.S.H.S proud by attending breakfast with his shorts on back to front. That explains why you couldn't find your pockets Joel!

We had quite an inspirational speech by ex-Olympian, Michelle Telfer. Returning from Barcelona with 11 weeks to her T.E.E., she managed a "disappointing" 428. Thus it was decided we will all leave it till the last 11 weeks of Year 12 to gain entrance to our medical diplomas.

To sum up, the 1994 Prefect Camp, a great time had by all. We learnt how to be successful as a group and how to negotiate with a boss!

In the past few weeks we have put into practice the skills we learnt organizing our first school social for 1994, Year 12 leaving jumpers and various upcoming school events.
