BSHS Prefects 1998

Once upon a time, in a small town by the sea, lived 12 young adults. These young adults had spent the last 16 years of their lives as hardworking, innocent and utterly lovable people. And, then, at the end of year 11, these 12 people got.........The Badge.

Initially, they were as adorable as ever, and their first assembly went off without a hitch. People breathed a sigh of relief, when it appeared possible that the affects of The Badge would bypass these 12 lovely people. There was: Ben, long haired, tall athletic extraordinaire; Leah, athletic, intelligent and charming; Dee, the intelligent redhead with a penchant for good times; Nathan, the studious aspiring writer who was a former Collie student; Gibbsy, the nice guy farm boy who lived for hockey; Christy, the curly-haired dancing Queen Fairy; Dylan, the ehair-slicked-backi, eshirt-tucked-ini science whiz; Michelle, the Donnybrook angel who was a breath of fresh air for us all; Jodi, the friendly girl with a nice word for everyone; Adrian and Sarah, the Boatie Beauties; and me....well what more can I say?

However, the Badge began to show it’s effects at the Prefect Camp. Sarah’s once affable personality began to match her wild and lion-like hair, with the beginnings of sayings like “Crash! Bang! Dick in the Pocket!” Nathan formed a close friendship with a free spirited Manji girl, Jonesy found an admirer in the body-pierced Pilko, and Gibbsy showed his talents with the tea towel......and not for washing up! (Can this be a hint of Sadism to come?)

At the end of the year, how much the Badge affected us?

Ben, still with long hair, still tall, yet somehow without the same innocence.

Leah, who was actually one of the few to remain as lovable as she once was, especially with basketballers.

Dee, who was definitely now a fiery redhead, discovered bush boys and hockey boys made the best combination.

Nathan, who became an even better writer, but also discovered the opposite sex, and was never quite the same after the Year 12 Dinner.

Gibbsy, whose sex appeal drove Sarah crazy

Christy, still the curly haired dancing queen, but always ‘whipping out her weapon’ and ‘having a slash’.

Dylan, who for some bizarre reason felt the need to have a blonde streak in his hair, and even untucked his shirt for one day.

Jodi, who became a perfect example of the saying ‘It is better to say nothing and appear stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt’.

Sarah, who became more lion like as the year went on, and continually tormented Dee with her strength Adrian, who was always getting caught for things like flashing his assets at passing buses.

Michelle, our Donnybrook friend who progressed from being quiet and friendly to party-hungry, but still lovable.

And then there’s me Katie........how could you possibly say I was any less lovable than before??
