Prefect Camp

Sunday, February 11, the dawn of a new era - or more accurately, the dawn of three days of quality "run - a - muck" ( and maybe learn something ) time for your esteemed 1996 Prefects.

Rudders drove like hell! We were going to escape the horros of Radio West, even if it meant death. Mission accomplished, we arrived and settled in. That evening we got intimate with student executives from the other schools, Jayne " My Slang won't work " Anderson leading the way through the icebreakers.

Monday morning (and Tuesday and Wednesday ) the girls dorm was awoken bright and early by the sounds of heavy make-up application and hair dryer antics of a certain over enthusiastic camper. The rest of day was dedicated to developing our problem solving, meeting, leadership, negotiating and general all round good guy skills, at which we obviously excelled! The day ended with a warped version of charades. BSHS's theatrical antics left many in shock.

Our " Big Men " had a chance to prove their masculinity to us all on Tuesday by successfully carrying the more attractive of us through a team of obstacles. The problem solving activity which followed provided us with a divine revelation - if we were ever going to catch the baddies somebody, anybody, had to actually shut up and listen. With more than a few subtle hints from Rudders and Knotty, justice prevailed.

Square dancing that evening proved to be a huge success, everyone docie-do-ing their hardest to keep up with Mr "Double R Rudrum". At least Meisha managed to maintain her dignity and Bunno's reputation, whilst less composed prefects (possibly Antoinette and myself) executed a well planned attack on the little guy with the big microphone. All attempts at sedation failed.

The guest speaker who followed had us all in fits of laughter, and by bedtime we were amped. Now kids, tell me - is there honestly anything suspicious about 69 prefects going to bed fully clothed? The boys dorm collapsed in riots, though we know our guys slept peacefully and innocently' through the whole thing. Eventually everything calmed down, and we all managed at least 10 minutes of quality shut eye.

Wednesday morning was sadly our last. Warm fuzzies, Valentines and good-byes exchanged, we headed home. Everyone had an unreal time, and added something in their special own way.
