CROCHET, FILET, TABLE CLOTH
This large white linen tablecloth, has a broad filet crochet edging with afternoon tea theme.
Design elements in the filet crochet edging are - 4 O’clock, teapots, tea cups, sugar basin and milk jug.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, afternoon tea was an important social occasion. Tea cloths, tablecloths and serviettes, hand embroidered or crocheted, showed the skills of the lady of the house.
