NEEDLE CASE, DORSET FEATHER
A brightly coloured needlecase for packets of needles worked in rarely done Dorset Feather stitchery which developed in Dorset, England in early part of 20th C, based on the surface stitches found on old smocks of the 18th & 19th centuries.
The needlecase is like a pouch, with a flap, made of navy blue cotton fabric.
Inside are 3 compartments to hold packets of needles.
Embroidery on front flap and inside compartment section in brightly coloured autumn tones of perle 12 thread.
Buttonhole stitch around the perimeter.
