The baseball was signed by members of the triumphant Western Australian team and was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by team member Don Butler. It is an important addition to the Museum's Claxton Shield memorabilia.
Only the second Shield win for Western Australia in 23 years, it was the start of the State's dominance in the second half of the 19070s when they won three consecutive championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979.
A rare item with historic and social significance, the ball bears the names of Western Australians who achieved a level of excellence in the sport of baseball in Western Australia. It has excellent provenance.
