Historical information

This commemorative baseball was presented to Australian umpire Maurie Reynolds for his role as an official baseball umpire at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. The umpiring panel consisted of one member from each participating country - Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, United States of America. The balance of the squad of twelve was made up from local Korean umpires. Two teams of six were used.

The commemorative baseball was donated to the Baseball WA Museum and Archives by Maurie's fellow Western Australian umpire Ken Smith.
