1975 Claxton Shield lapel badge
1975A gold-coloured metal lapel badge with a stylised baseball diamond depicted in the top portion of the badge. Sections of the diamond are highlighted with green or red enamelling. At the top of the badge is the word 'Claxton' in gold lettering. The lower portion of the badge is a furled ribbon banner with white enamelling and the words 'Oriole Park 1975' in gold lettering.
1975 was the 36th Claxton Shield Series, an Australian national baseball competition. It was contested at Oriole Park in Auburn, New South Wales with Western Australia winning the championships. The badges were presented to baseball players competing in the competition.

This lapel badge belonged to Don Butler, a member of the triumphant Western Australian team. Only the second win for the State in 23 years, it was the start of Western Australia's dominance in the second half of the 19070s when they won three consecutive championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979.
The badge was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Don Butler and is an important addition to the Museum's Claxton Shield memorabilia.
This badge has historic significance, heralding Western Australia's advancement in the national Claxton Shield baseball series. It is in excellent condition and has impeccable provenance.
