Grenville Kelly was a pitcher in the 1966 Western Australian team that competed in the Australian Claxton Shield baseball series in Adelaide. It was his second series, after playing in the 1964 championship in Melbourne, Victoria.
Kelly donated the ball to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives at a Claxton Shield reunion held at Empire Ballpark in Perth in 2024. It is a valued addition to the Museum's collection.
This is an item of historic and social significance to Western Australian baseball from an Australian interstate tournament. It is a rare item of memorabilia, made more so by the signatures of the Western Australian team, and comes with impeccable provenance.
