STAMPED LINEN, MAT
A rare net doyley, consisting of two layers of synthetic off-white net, with a stamped floral design ready for embroidery. The design outlines and edging are machine stitched. Design has floral sprays of daisies within circles of leaves. Edge is scalloped. Stamped linen very popular for embroidery in early 20th century.
The pattern is “Design 4 by Penelope” from BRIGGS company of the United Kingdom which was a major producer of stamped linen for embroidered items – household and costume.
