STAMPED LINEN,RUNNER

Overview

The 'Australiana' design stamped on linen fabric by AGM no. 178 company is one of a broad range of stamped designs on fabrics for household articles available in early and mid 20th century.
The design of central Boomerangs with Koalas at each end with Olympic rings below boomerangs celebrated the Olympic Games held in Melbourne in 1956.
Patterns for household linen, mass produced by Semco, MyArt, and Deighton were often published in women's magazines such as Australiann Home Journal, The Weekly Times and the Australian Woman's Weekly and offered as a mail service to women in country areas. Australiana featuring native flora and fauna was also a popular theme
