KNITTING, MAT
A dainty hand knitted doyley made in early 20th century by pioneer family living in North West of Western Australia.
In the early 20th century, many printed patterns became available in Women’s magazines.
The delicate lace design with central star with surrounding bands of different patterns, illustrates intricate lace knitting called “fairy knitting” on circular needles with fine white cotton thread.
