CROCHET,FILET,TRIMMING

Overview

This extensive and finely worked filet crochet edging with matching inserts for a table cloth was a very popular domestic craft in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
The design, possibly by Mary Card, consists of (a) edge trimming - alternating roses and leaf spray with a pointed scalloped edge is worked in treble crochet. (b) Four triangular inserts - three roses and sprays of leaves. Made by Gladys Paine (nee Tay) the trimming was never used.
