Overview

A black and white team potrait of the West Subiaco (Shenton Park) Rugby Club players and officials. The team is posed in three rows with two trophies and a framed pennant placed on the floor in the middle of the front row. Most of the players are wearing their team unform, with officials mostly wearing suits. The group is posed in front of a stage in a hall. There is bunting draped across the top and around the sides of the stage.
The photograph is mounted in a beige colured mount with simple line border. Printed above the image on the mount is 'W.S.R.C. Premiers and Pennant Winners 1932'. Handwritten underneath is '(This belongs to Reg Maxwell)'.

Statement of significance

This black and white team photograph is significant for recording the West Subiaco Rugby Team, and their success in the 1932 season. Significantly, many of the players are associated with prominent families and businesses of Subiaco, Jolimont and Daglish at this time, and the photograph records when the suburbs was known as 'West Subiaco' rather than Shenton Park.
