PHOTOGRAPH: GIRLS HOCKEY TEAM

Overview

A black and white photograph of a girls hockey team taken outside. The ten girls are dressed in hockey kit of gym slip with a striped pattern and white shirts. All the team members hold their hockey sticks. A small child can be seen at the very front of the group.

The location of the image has been determined to be Birdwood Square in North Perth, at the corner near the intersection of Bulwer and Beaufort Streets. Some shopfronts can be seen along the road in the background, and several bare trees. Shop signs read 'R.E. Arnold, Iron and Brass Foundry, and 'E. Davies' which is belived to be a funeral parlour. In the right background two people are sitting on a bench.

Reverse is stamped with a purple stamp reading 'Park's X Press Photos Perth'.

Historical information

The location of the image has been determined to be Birdwood Square in North Perth, at the corner near the intersection of Bulwer and Beaufort Streets. Some shopfronts can be seen along the road in the background, and several bare trees. Shop signs include:

'R.E. Arnold, Iron and Brass Foundry ' was a plumber identified at 336 Beaufprt Street in 1920.

'E. Davies' is belived to be a funeral parlour which was established in this location in the 1930s (possibly 1937). Later it was Bowra and O'Dea.
