BADGE: CITY OF SUBIACO COUNCILLOR'S BADGE - H C MORRIS

Overview

City of Subiaco councillor's name badge for H C Morris. The badge consists of a circular enamelled brass badge with the city's coat of arms of a crown above 'CITY OF SUBIACO' above a shield divided into three, the top LH with a representation of a church, the top RH a sailing ship in full said, and the bottom section a house and trees. Beneath this are two stylised black swans. The colours are creamy/yellow background, with gold, black, and tan. Attached to the bottom of the badge are two rings in gold coloured metal from which hangs a rectangular brass name plate. Stamped into this plate is 'COUNCILLOR / H. C. MORRIS' in black. The reverse of the badge has been coloured gold and a pin in gold coloured metal the full width of the badge is attached. Also on the back of the badge is a square stamp with 'SHERIDAN / WEST AUST'. The back of the name plate is tarnished.

Historical information

H C Morris was born in Raphael Street, Subiaco in 1916 and died in 2004 at 3 The Avenue. He was involved in the history group 'Tales of Times Past' with the Subiaco Library. (Ms Esanti, co-ordinator 2000-04). He built the first backyard family swimming pool in Perth in 1961 at 3 The Avenue by wheelbarrow and bricks. There was a photo of it in the West Australian.
