QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE MEDAL IN RED LEATHERETTE BOX

Overview

A) Red leatherette box opening from the bottom and hinged at the top. The cover is impressed in silver with a crown 'EIIR / SILVER JUBILEE MEDAL / 1952-1977'. There is a small half round cut out on the lower front edge to facilitate opening the box. The inside of the cover has, in black, the royal arms surmounted by a crown and 'ROYAL MINT' within a stylised ribbon beneath. On left side of the crown is tower bridge and the Tudor rose on the right. The whole is surrounded by a double line rectangle with rounded corners. The base is plain.
B) The medal sits in pseudo velvet base moulded to shape. The medal is silver with a white, red and blue striped ribbon attached by a moulding and ring at the top of the meda.l A silver pin is attached to the back of the ribbon. The face of the medal has a profile of the queen wearing the coronation crown and around the edge is 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID DEF'. The reverse has a crown centre top with a wreath of leaves and catkins surrounding 'THE/ 25TH YEAR OF / THE REIGN OF QUEEN / ELIZABETH II / 6 FERUARY / 1977. The edge is smooth.
