MEDAL: 60TH ANNIVERSARY END OF WORLD WAR II MEDAL WITH BOX AND PAMPHLET

Overview

a) The medallion commemorates the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. It is presented in 2005 by the Australian Government on behalf of the Australian people, to those who served this nation and her allies during the war from 1939 to 1945. The obverse design shows the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. The reverse design symbolises service in the Navy, Army and Air Force through its depiction of sea, land and air.It has a gold appearance, with a frosted uncirculated finish. The designer is Wojciech Pietranik.
B) Small foldel pamphlet, describing the medal, printed in black, with colour picture of the medal on the front, with stripes of navy blue, khaki, red and airforce blue.
C) Black presentation box with fold over lid and magnetic catch. The outside lid showsin gold the Commonwealth Coat of Arms and beneath this 'Australian Government / Department of Veterans' Affairs'. Inside the lid in gold is '60th anniversary of the / end of World War II / For Service to Australia. N the base there is black imitation velvet with a depression in which the medal rests.
