MEDAL: WORLD WAR II THE AUSTRALIA SERVICE MEDAL WITH RIBBON AND BOX

Overview

a) Silver metal medal with attachment and bars for ribbon. The obverse has the Australian Coat of Arms of kangaroo and emu in the centre, 'THE AUSTRALIA SERVICE MEDAL' around the top perimeter and '1939-1945' at the bottom. The reverse has the head of King George VI with 'GEORGIVS VI G: BR: OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP:' around the perimiter. The edge is smooth with 'S10225 G.T DADOUR' engraved in it.
b) The ribbon has a blue stripe down the LH edge, then a fine red stripe, a wide beige stripe, a fine red stripe and a navy blue stripe on the RH edge.
c) The box is folded cardboard , white exterior and beige interior, there is a label on the top LH side of the lid with'S10225 / G.T. Dadour / ASM 1939-45 List 01/04.

Historical information

Enlisted 19 April 1945. Served with Royal Australian Navy. Demobilised 15 November 1946. Engaged for three years or duration of war plus 6 months thereafter.
