This is a black vinyl, 7" (175mm) 45 RPM single record.

The record has a white circular label adhered to the centre with blue printing on it.

The makers mark for [Jingle Factory] is prominent at the top of the label, with {NS-1 A 45 R.P.M.] printed below this. On the lower half of the label is the song name [AUSTRALIA II] and below this is printed [(Wilson/Durant) Tobruk Music (3.05) / Produced by Tony Durant + Jingle Factory / Engineered by Rick Curtin / No Sweat Records]. A rights notice is printed in fine print around the lower half of the label. The same song appears to be on both sides of the record.

Historical information

On the 26th of September 1983, off the coast of Rhode Island USA, the yacht Australia II crossed the finish line to win the America's Cup. In the best of seven races, Australia II was 1-3 down after the first four races. In the final race Australia II came from behind to win 4-3. It was the first America's Cup race in 132 years that was won by a country other than the USA. This recording is of the official theme song for the 1983 challenge. It was written and produced by Western Australian based Jingle Factory which included Brendan O'Brien who grew up in Kelmscott along with Boyd Wilson and Tony Durant. The record was released in 1983 to help raise money for the Australia II campaign. The record was primarily sold through Coles supermarkets. In September 1983 Brendan was presented with a certificate of merit for his role in writing the song from the Kelmscott Rotary Club. The award was presented to Brendan by Sir Charles Court the former premier of Western Australia.
