Overview

Cardboard box, covered on four sides by yellow paper and finished with clear contact covering. One of the long sides of the box has a white paper label printed with [READERS / Literacy/Beginners] in black ink. The top of the box is open.

The box contains cue cards for the alphabet, some with pictures, as well as cue cards for literacy prompts.

Historical information

The Adult Migrant English Project (AMEP) was established in 1948 to provide English language training to recent arrivals to assist with their settlement in Australia. AMEP has been located at 145 Jull St, Armadale, since 2009, but moved into 25 Church Ave, Armadale, on 15/07/2024. This game forms a part of the lessons in English provided by AMEP to newly arrived immigrants.

The AMEP is a free service designed to help migrants improve their English skills. It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
