LACE, BOBBIN, MALTESE, MATS
c. 1900A delightful table setting of handmade Maltese bobbin lace from mid 20th century belonged to the donor’s mother, possibly made in France where her parents were born.
The setting consists of six (6) round place mats and six (6) round coasters, each with a linen centre and an intricate Maltese lace edging.
The design has a repeating design of a clothwork Maltese Cross motif, sprays of leaves (of pointed wheat ears) and a clothwork flower, each surrounded by a kat stitch (lattice like) reseau.
