LACE, MALTESE, COLLAR
This Maltese lace collar was worn by donor’s grandmother Fanny Gooch, who married in 1890 and who with her husband was one of the pioneer settlers in the Gascoyne region of WA.
Also worn by her mother, Maud Waite.
Wide Maltese lace collar made up of 4 bands of bobbin lace. Neck edge and opening band has barrow band of wheat ears forming 4 petalled flowers. Second band a series of solid circles. Third band has series of Maltese crosses surrounded by sprays of wheat ear leaves/flowers. Fourth band has circles with circular flowers and a long elongated scallops with Maltese cross.
One scallop, 3 from opening, has disintegrated.
