CROCHET, MAT
c. 1930 - 1939In the depression of the 1930s, fabrics, threads and handcraft materials in short supply. Folk could not afford luxury goods or fine accessories for the home. This crocheted mat was part of a set, given as a wedding present in 1932, to form part of a young lady’s trousseau.
Finely crocheted mat worked in fine cotton thread.
Circular white cotton fabric centre whose perimeter is stitched in feather stitch, then surrounded by a crocheted lattice work band and then 12 daisies, 40mm diameter around the perimeter.
