IRISH CROCHET, SLEEVES
1840 - 1850SLEEVES: Wide, balloon type sleeves crocheted in 150 cotton thread. Consists of a series of 10 different floral motifs connected by picoted chains. Top and bottom of the sleeves have a ladder like crocheted edging. The centre of each motif has a raised cordonnet. The designs are not consistent on each sleeve. Design is not Irish, possibly Spanish.
Unusual to have lace motifs stitched in straight lines.
