RAISED WORK, STUMP WORK, PICTURE

Overview

A fine example of stumpwork, a technique revived in early 1990s by N.S.W tutor, Jane Nicholas who wrote several books on the topic, containing small projects with flowers and insects. This piece, a bee with small transparent wings and one flower, a rose, is the first in a series of three (3) donated, each at a level of increasing difficulty.
2018.47, a butterfly, larger wings, one flower a thistle, and pair of acorns with raised leaf.
2018.48, a dragonfly, even larger wings, two flowers, a poppy and a pair of cornflowers with raised leaf.
2004.37 Jane Nicholas donated a paper weight that she had stitched. Rose and bee.
