GENERAL EMBROIDERY, PICTURE

c. 1990 - 1999
Overview

An example of an original Western Australian embroidery in late 20th Century by distinguished member of the W.A. Embroiderers' Guild, Joy Holman, who in 1985 was awarded Life Membership of the Guild for her significant contribution.
The expansion of original creative work within the Guild was being encouraged. Here Joy took traditional technique of needle painting and interpreted it into her own design.
The picture is of two plover birds wading in a lake, bordered by rushes. The embroidery extends into the mount of the frame on the lower LHS.
