STAMPED LINEN, DUCHESS SET
Stamped linen designs for those hand stitching at home were popular in the first half of the 20th century.
This type of decorative embroidery was often called 'fancywork'.
The 3 pieces of stamped linen, commonly called a Duchess set, is Design 6214 Horseshoe, by ‘PARA” Needlework.
Each oval mat has a scalloped edge with machine punched holes around the perimeter for a crochet edge.
Instruction leaflet has a photo of the finished set, and provides details of stitches to be used, corresponding colours in CLARK’S “ANCHOR” STRANDED COTTON, and the crochet edging in CLARK’S “ANCHOR” Pearl Cotton size 8 or 12.
